This poster is meant to show that racial justice and support for marginalized communities cannot be separated from the practice of science. We must actively work to recognize the obstacles that scientists (and potential scientists) from marginalized communities face, and dismantle structures of power that prevent them from succeeding. We must also consider the effects of our research and research choices on marginalized communities.
Posters (from https://sammykatta.com/diversity) are free to download and print, and you are welcome to modify them to fit your lab or make them more inclusive as long as they stay free and you share the pledge along with the files! |
Graduate Program Update: Apply for a dual title in HDFS and Social Behavioral Neuroscience!
Graduate students in my lab can elect to pursue a new dual title in HDFS and Social Behavioral Neuroscience. Social behavioral neuroscience reflects the study of how brain development and function influence, and are influenced by, social environments and human interaction. The dual-title Ph.D. program provides students with additional, rigorous training in the neurobiological foundations of brain function in order to enable them to pursue innovative interdisciplinary research with intellectual sophistication.
